Soccer Camp- The Final Results

Ethan really loved soccer camp this summer!  He woke up almost every morning asking for "soccer class".  That is kind of a surprise to me, as he would never really follow what "Coach Mica" was telling him to do.  All of the other parents always laughed at Ethan's little antics; he does seem to entertain people!  He would frequently stop to wave not only to me, but to his other "fans" in the crowd.  What a ham!

I had to attach this one video, as it really showed his true nature of soccer camp.  You'll frequently see him running in whatever direction seems to suit him at the moment, regardless of where the goal is or if he even has a soccer ball.  About 1/2 way into the movie he kept running up to a little girl named Carly and calling her "Mia."  (I think he's chosen that name for his baby sister.)  She kept trying to tell him that wasn't her name, and almost kicks him!  That's what Ethan was busy doing during soccer camp!

Had a Great Birthday!

Obviously, Chris wasn't here for my birthday this year, but boy did he make it special all the same!  He ordered a super colorful bouquet of my favorite flowers and sent me a griddle pan that I have been eyeing for quite some time!  He also got Ethan to sing me Happy Birthday...or at least his own version!  It was a great day! Thanks, Honey!

Ethan's Little Sister!

We are so excited to announce that Ethan will be getting a little sister this November!  I've got tons of ultra-sound pics, that I promise to try to get up here soon!  But, until then, I just thought we'd let everyone know!

DeAnna Rose Farm

Okay, so it's been a long time since I've updated anything on here.  It's not that we haven't been doing a ton of fun things, Ethan's having a summer jam-packed full of great activities.  I've just been so busy doing work on the computer that when I'm done writing at night I don't even want to look at the computer anymore!  Sorry!  I'll make a renewed effort to get more pics on here!

We went to the DeAnna Rose Farm a couple of weeks ago.  It's a HUGE place that has a petting zoo, a fishing pond, and all sorts of fun activities.  Kids can climb on real tractors, race around the track on little tike-sized peddle tractors, see Long Horns, take pony rides...you name it!  We were there a couple of hours and didn't even get through half of it.  We're definitely going back.  Anyway, here are some of the pictures I had time to snap when Ethan wasn't trying to lick the pig's snout, climb through the fence to see the pony, or throwing sticks and growling at the bobcat.  (Yes, I think he keeps be pretty busy!)

Ethan always makes me smile!

Okay, just a quick note for those of you who understand my son's unique behaviors.

We've given up on going to Nursery at church, some of you have heard the singing time episode that didn't go so well.  But we still go to the first meeting (Sacrament meeting) and then he goes to Sunday School with me.  Last Sunday, they were confirming two new members of the church during the Sacrament meeting.  I told Ethan he needed to fold his arms for a special prayer.  He looked at me kind of funny, because we had just finished saying a prayer.  So I told him it was for a blessing.  He was quite for the first few seconds of the blessing, then what I said must have donned on him.  He proudly, and LOUDLY declared, "Blessing for sick! Sick blessing.  Tummy hurts."  I put my hand gently over his mouth and attempted to get him to be quiet.  My mother and brother started silently laughing, which was all the encouragement he needed.  He continued to talk about how the person was sick and needed a blessing.  Needless to say, before the second confirmation started he was whisked out of the chapel!   A phone rang during the second confirmation, and someone turned around and said "At least your son was more on target than a cell phone!"

I think part of the problem is that my son simply refuses to acknowledge Spanish.  Whenever people pray or talk in Spanish (which is a lot in a Spanish branch) he talks right through them!  But if it's English, he will sit quietly and listen or fold his arms.  Hmm....does this mean he's going to have as hard of a time learning languages as his mother?

Soccer Camp

I signed Ethan up for a soccer camp this summer.  Monday was his first time, and he did pretty well, for Ethan.  The highlights of the class went as follows:

The coach told them their soccer balls were bobcats, and they couldn't touch the bobcats with their hands or they'd get bit.  He had the kids pretend to get bit by the ball.  When everyone else screamed and ran back, Ethan looked at that ball like it was going to eat him! He wasn't sure he wanted to go near it for a few minutes. (Mind you, the class is kids ages 2 1/2 to 5 years old.  I squeezed Ethan in at 2 1/4, maybe a tad too young.)

The coach was trying to teach them to dribble, and said they were taking their "bobcats" (soccer balls) on a walk to the zoo. He asked Ethan what his favorite animal at the zoo was.  Ethan happily replied "Panda!"  The coach said they would see the pandas first.  Ethan threw down his ball and ran to the door, very excited to go to the zoo.  He was not a happy camper when he realized it was make-believe and there would be no zoo trip today.

Quick Note

Okay, so if you're still able to read this, then I'm assuming you got the blog invite.  I am probably being a little over protective, but after hearing about all of the predators that are online trying to go after little kiddos, I figured I'd make this blog a little more private.  I am sure that I inadvertently forgot some people, so I'm sure I'll catch up with you all soon!
